Maya Devi Village is the home of Parahawking, a new, exciting and unique adventure that's only available in Nepal. Parahawking is a fusion between Paragliding and falconry where birds of prey are trained to fly with Paragliders and guide them to where the thermals are.
Maya Devi is the center for Paragliding in Nepal which was pioneered by one of Maya Devi's owners, Adam Hill. Pokhara is one of the worlds premier paragliding destinations, famous for it's breathtaking scenery, varied flying conditions to suit all levels of pilots and almost year round consistent flying.
Himalayan Raptor Rescue is a non profit, privately run organization based at Maya Devi Village. Our primary objective is to care for sick, injured and orphaned birds of prey with a view to rehabilitating and releasing them back into the wild where possible. Each year we take in several birds of prey from a variety of different species, many of them are protected and sometimes even globally threatened, and all of them need our care. You can see the many birds that reside at Maya Devi and see the work that's being done to help them. With over 28 years experience working with birds of prey, the birds at Maya Devi could not be in better hands.
Bring your binoculars because Pokhara is a bird watchers paradise, especially if you are a raptor enthusiast. In fact from Maya Devi Village you can regularly see numerous species of bird of prey including Steppe Eagles, Crested Serpent Eagles, Bonelli's Eagles, Himalayan Griffon Vultures, White Backed Vultures and Egyptian Vultures and that's just for starters.
With Maya Devi Village situated literally meters from the banks of Lake Fewa, what better place is there to participate in Pokhara's water activities. Courtesy of
